We just got back from Vegas and once again it was great. My band Shining Star

did a great job keeping the energy up! There were some crazy moments for sure!

I'm still recieving a positive response from the CD and have several things in the works.

I'll be sure to keep the website updated as to when some of these things come to life.

Vegas Baby!  9.7.03

I'm also proud to say that I just finished a week long engagement with my band Shining Star at the fabulous Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino!

It was awesome! They loved us  and are going to put us on a rotation there about every 3 months.

Vegas is a fast paced place but I found sometime to shop and relax a little before the gig!

The staff at Mandalay Bay were very gracious and supportive and we can't wait to go back.

The thing about Vegas is that you never know who'll be sitting there in the audience, like say... Steven Spielberg!

That's right Mr. Spielberg sat incognito for 3 of our shows!

He's a very kind and patient person and was gracious enough to speak with me for awhile before my last set.

I was a little more than happy to give him a copy of my CD!!!

Make sure you check my events calendar to see where I'll be locally and the next time I'll be in Vegas!!!

8.21.03

Well I had my first review of the CD in GET OUT Magazine and I'm proud to say I received an A-!!!

From what I understand they are a very critical magazine so that would be considered a stellar review by their standards.

Below is the review....

A lifetime of performing has given singer/songwriter Jodi Light a professionalism that shines through every note of her new CD.

Created along with husband,co-writer and producer Mario Mendivil.

"I Am Right Here" is sonically stunning and easily the equivalent of any major-label product. Its songs are decidedly adult contemporary pop in feel, but there are enough funk and jazz flourishes to complement Jodi's soulful and occasionally over-the-top- vocal delivery. Lyrically,

"sweetness and" could be Light's middle names, but the relentless positivity is obviously heartfelt. Her only missteps are some irritatingly cloying spoken-word passages that detract from the flow of the album.A-

My CD was also chosen for Arizona State University's DEVIL PICKS.

Below is the review....

Jodi Light, "I Am Right Here": You've heard Light's voice singing jingles for Channel 3,but those are seconds-long snippets.

On "I Am Right Here" the talented singer/songwriter struts her stuff on original songs

that expertly mix adult contemporary-stlye pop with jazz and funk touches.

That's it for now. More later.....
